Distress, Distress, Distress!!!

Last weekend was a blast! I managed to get my album finished (except for a few minor touches) and then also did an All Sorts Mini Album using the Jingle paper. Everything that we did on the mini album was distressed. When I went back to do my scrapbook pages, I was in such a roll with distressing that I even distressed a few pictures using both the edge distresser and the chalk ink! It was a successful weekend away. Can't wait till the next one.
Have fun and try some distressing!

Weekend!!

Hello everyone! Just lately I've felt swamped. With my hubby away for the last 3 weeks, report cards due, and all the craziness of the H1N1 going on. AHHHH- does it ever come to an end??? I find that I sometimes just can't seem to find the time for myself and my interests. Driving here and there for beavers, swimming, play dates etc... and then finding time for homework- and these are just for the kids :) I find that I have to book in my own time for scrapbooking and I can't wait till this weekend! It's my turn to get away and do some crafting. I'm heading to Canmore for a scrapbook retreat this weekend. I love going and look forward to it every year. But I do recommend when you do go away: Have a plan. If I go with my plan in mind- I get things done. This time I'm hoping to finish my AMVIV scrapbook (A Mini Vacation In Vegas- below I have some of the pages from our trip). I'm also going to see if I can get any more cards done. So my tip for a retreat would be: Have a plan, be organized, and set a goal. Here's to a productive weekend!

Grace cards using Waxy Flax to Stitch

Tonight I decided to make the Grace cards from the Workshops on the Go. What I thought was really cool was using Waxy flax to stitch and to hold on the buttons!! For the stitching, first you make the holes with your Piercing tool, then you just hand stitch with the waxy flax- so easy! The waxy flax stays together pretty well as you stitch, and because it's waxy, it's easy to squeeze the ends together to get them through the holes. I suggest using a long enough piece so that you have enough in the end to tie, and because after all the threading, it does seem to have started to fray a bit. I also decided to pierce holes to "stitch" the buttons on; tying a knot on the inside of the cards to hold them in place. The first one I did, I tied the waxy flax to the buttons and then used a glue dot to hold them on. Personally I like the tied ones instead of the glue dot. They just seem more secure and lie flat on the front of the card. Now I'll have to try using these ideas on my scrapbook pages too!

Workshop Pictures

Here are some of the pictures of the workshop that I held. It has taken a while to be able to get them up! We've all been sick around here and worn out.
I love the sparkle brads and the colours of the Jingle paper!!! The tulip and the Juniper are great soft Christmas colours. Love it!!!! This is the first time that I'd used the Dimensional elements circles and by inking them they turned out great! It was so easy, yet looks advanced. Just adding the brads and ribbon as well as cutting out a few stamped images can really glam up your page. Can't beat that!

"Mini" scrapbook

Some of you who know me will know that one of our other hobbies is our cars! Yes that's right we have 2 Mini's !!!! We are part of the Mini Club of Calgary www.minicalgary.com and go on Mini runs almost once a month. It's so much fun and last March, my husband and I left the kids at home to go to AMVIV (A Mini Vacation in Vegas). Lots of fun. Currently I've been working on scrapbooking that. I'm addicted to using the Cherish and Imagine books by Jeanette Lynton so pretty much every layout that I did was from one of the books. Enjoy!
